Mixture concept is used for find  ratio different thing in a mixture.

           

Where  x and y are two things and M is mean of things

Then  |M-y|    and    |X-M|  are the ration in which x,y are mixed in the mixture.

QUESTION 1:The average salary of staff of company is 1200 .If the average salary of officers is 4600 and non-officers is 1100.If no of officers are 15.Find the no of non-officers ?.

Solution

                                    

                           Officers: non-officers=1:34

                1 is equal to =15

                34 is equal to=15*34=510

                           Therefore non-officers are 510.

QUESTION 2:A merchant has 88 kg of sugar .A part of this he sells at a gain of 10% and the remaining at a loss of 12% on the total he loses 3%.What is the quantity sold at a loss of 12% ?.

Solution :  

         

Ratio of  one part : ratio of other part=9:13

   Here given 22 is equal to =88

                         13 is equal=88/22*13

                                            =  52 kg

Thus  losses on 52 kg
